A new kind of ministry.
EMSCG is an independent ministry comprised entirely of active, inactive and retired EMS professionals, all current or former Georgia certified EMTs and Paramedics, who have received a call to God's ministry, and have pursued specialized chaplaincy and Critical Incident Stress Management training.
Very surprisingly, there have been few ministries of this sort, unlike the more traditional police and fire chaplaincies, but this can be understood, a bit, when recognizing that EMS itself, as an independent professional emergency service, is less than 40 years old!

A new kind of emergency response.
EMS personnel have the highest levels of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) and accompanying high rates of suicides and other, less than immediately lethal self-destructive disorders, of any workers within the public safety professions.
The negative emotional and psychological aspects of stress accumulate at an accelerated rate with continued exposure to stress inducing situations.
EMS crews frequently respond to high energy, highly stressful situations multiple times per each shift that they work, often working such calls “back to back” or during late night/early morning hours.

A new kind of care.
We are veteran brothers and sisters of prehospital care, "street medics," now coming alongside our current family of EMS crews to provide moral and spiritual support, field counseling, and crisis intervention. We have "worn the badge" and are intimately familiar with what these crews experience, unlike other well-meaning but unknowing caregivers.
We offer foundational support training to students in EMS training centers and institutions, to help prepare them for the realities of pre-hospital emergency street medicine.
We offer memorial services and other such faith-based services to crews in the field, as requested and desired.

You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
Psalm 91:5-7

what we do
We are a "ministry of presence," providing direct pastoral care and first level counseling to EMS personnel, and serve as a resource and bridge to refer to professional counselors and other care providers as these needs are identified.
